Get Involved
Help us build a language of support and empathy in Assam. Sign our language pledge or volunteer to assist in community outreach.
Stigma-Free Language Pledge
Stigma starts with words. Many common terms in Assamese and English (like *pogola*, *mental*, *lunatic*, *crazy*, *neurotic*) are used to mock or dismiss individuals navigating genuine clinical struggles. By signing this pledge, you commit to changing your language.
"I pledge to use respectful, non-stigmatizing language when discussing mental health in my home, school, and workplace. I will avoid using clinical diagnoses (such as Bipolar, OCD, Depressed, or Schizophrenic) as casual adjectives to label ordinary moods or neatness. I commit to listening with empathy, validating others' feelings, and supporting the normalization of mental health care in Guwahati."
